The genesis of the Loonie Sports Club emerged after hosting outside bonspiels, where the dependency on the weather became unreliable. Alex McKinney decided that building an indoor curling rink would be a great way to bring people into curling.
Once the indoor curling building was finished, the club hosted curling in the winter and and lawn bowling, yoga and cornhole in the summer. Eventually, a tennis court was built beside the curling rink. The tennis court is used in the summer for basketball, remote controlled car racing and, of course as much tennis as possible, weather permitting. The club previously known as Loonie Curling Club, has changed its name to:
Loonie Sports Club
Membership in the Loonie Sports Club, located at 13 Maplecroft lane, allows you to curl, lawn bowl, play corn hole, play tennis, run your radio controlled toys, hit golf balls and attend all the social activities held here. Your membership fees will go towards maintaining the equipment, utilities and administration costs including the club website which will keep members informed of club activities .
